Today is Zach's last day of 3rd grade! We have to go to the awards ceremony Monday morning, but school is officially OVER:)!! Today is 'fun day' for the kids..Just playing games outside all day! I still remember those days when I was little! Zach is happy, and a bit sad at the same time. He really loves school..He has had the same teacher for the last 2 years, and she is really a sweetheart! Very young herself, not married yet...just full of smiles and energy! We have really enjoyed her..Every year, we try to give the teacher something thoughtful for a gift..This year I was completely inspired by "Sew Amy"..I showed Zach what she and her son were working on, and asked Zach if he would like to make something similar to theirs! He said, "Sure Mom"..I didn't realize he drew almost the SAME picture, but I thought it was pretty funny..you see, Zach is not really all that into art! His projects are usually finished in a remarkably quick time frame! Pencils and crayons are dropped quickly for a ball, bat, or video game!!!! When I noted that he could have drawn something HE actually thought of...he told me that he just REALLY liked Amy's!! So be it:))) I did too!!! Anyway...this is our rendition of the project..
I decided to trace the reverse image onto fusible web, and then applique it to background fabric...I then just embroidered over Zach's writing..I think it turned out cute, but I am really bugged that the background shows through..on BOTH sides! I wish I would have put a piece of batting between the layers!! Oh well...live and learn!!! I started this last week, and then went into a LONG workweek...6 10 hour days in a row! Now, I have 6 days off though, so I am happy!!! AND.......I have exciting news to share!!!!!! I AM GOING TO BE A MATERNITY NURSE!!!! WOOHOO!!! I was hired for the position yesterday! I am so incredibly happy! When I became a nurse, it was always my dream that I would someday end up in Maternity...well, those positions are coveted, because apparently I am not the only nurse that would love to spend the day teaching new Mom's and cuddling thier little bundles of joy! The positions that occassionally occur are quickly filled by nurses with seniority! and a day position...which is what I got...UNHEARD of!!!! Now..A few months back..I did a little post about some computer work I was doing for the hospital, in addition to my nursing duties on the inpatient mental health unit, where I have worked for the past 3 years. The whole hospital has had to implement a completely new documentation system due to goverment incentives..Lucky, for me, I was selected to be a builder of this program..I am now considered a "Super User"..and as each floor goes "Live" with the new computer system..I have been working extra hours to go and train and support their nurses...This is how I came into being in such a GREAT position for the recently posted Maternity position!!!! I have been training thier nurses..and I have agreed to work on their floor when they go "live" next week..So, because of my "special SKILLZ" Lol I'm in:)))) I hope to start in the next few weeks..I am leaving behind a great bunch of people, very dedicated and hard working nurses that have taught me so much..so I will miss them, but am looking forward to this next step in my career!!!!!
you will be a most amazing maternity nurse. Looking forward to this new chapter in your life
